The 3rd Environmental Creation Symposium -Discussion among people inside and outside-

The 3rd Environmental Creation Symposium for Fukushima -- Discussion among people inside and outside -- was held on February 2 (Sunday), 2020, which was attended by a great number of people.

 

We presented the results of the research conducted by the prefecture and collaborative research institutes as well as we introduced the efforts of various organizations in Japan and overseas, and conducted panel discussions with outside experts and celebrities to think about the future of Fukushima.

 

1 Opening Session

The high school students from inside and outside the prefecture spoke on the topic of “Our learnings on and expectation about ‘Fukushima’.”

 

Facilitators: Mr. Takayuki Honda (science communicator), and Natsumi Uga (freelance announcer)
Participating high-schools: Fukushima Prefectural Fukushima High School (Fukushima City), Fukushima Prefectural Asaka High School (Koriyama City), Nagano Prefectural Yashiro High School (Chikuma City, Nagano Prefecture, Online participation).

Appearance of the opening session; The participants and high school students discussed about their learnings and thoughts and expectations on "Fukushima" by connecting the Commutan Fukushima (Fukushima Prefectural Centre for Environmental Creation) with those outside the prefecture via live broadcasting.

 

2 Panel discussion

Subject: How to expand and focus our points of view <outside of ourselves>

Panelists: Mr. Naoya Sekiya (Associate Professor, the University of Tokyo), Ms. Mei Nishizaki (Narahamirai, a general incorporated association), Ms. Emi Kato (Kato Farm Co., Ltd), Mr. Kei Gomi (Senior Researcher, National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan), and students/graduates of Fukushima Prefectural Fukushima High School and Fukushima Prefectural Asaka High School

Panelists who are active in various fields were invited to discuss the future of Fukushima.

 

3 Booth exhibition

36 organizations presented thoughts on their efforts to restore and create the environment of Fukushima, and so doing they deepened their mutual understanding on this subject.
