On May 27, 2013, the IAEA RANET Capacity Building Centre was open in the Fukushima Prefecture Community Association Building.

The opening of this Centre was based on the Memorandum on the cooperation between Fukushima Prefecture and the IAEA, agreed upon on December 15, 2012.

The Centre carries out the following collaborative activities based on the agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the IAEA.
1) Storage of RANET equipment
2) Training of relevant people from local and state governments of each country
3) Use of RANET equipment in the event of an emergency in the Asia Pacific
